Why You'll Love It

THE DROUGHT IS OVER

An ultra-hydrating mask that pours moisture back into dry, lifeless skin. It's powered by Resurrection Plant, a desert extremophile that can bring itself back to life from complete dehydration, and it does the same for your skin. Rich, silky, ocean-blue, and proven to revive in just ten minutes.

Resurrection Plant extract delivers a trio of compounds evolved to survive extreme water loss. Trehalose stabilises your skin's proteins and lipid membranes during dehydration stress. Arbutin brightens and evens skin tone. Glycerol glucoside boosts your skin's own water transport channels (called aquaporins) so moisture goes where it's needed most. This isn't just hydration. It's a cellular protection system, millions of years in the making.

Blue Tansy Oil brings more than its vibrant colour to the table. Rich in chamazulene, a potent anti-inflammatory, it keeps your complexion calm while its sweet, herbaceous aroma soothes your senses. Perfect if your skin is dehydrated and reactive.

But this isn't just a quick fix. Hyaluronic Acid and Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans flood skin with moisture at multiple depths, while NMF Sugar Complex bonds directly to your skin's keratin, so it physically can't be rinsed away. That means hydration that continues working for up to 72 hours after you've washed the mask off. Prebiotic Inulin feeds the good bacteria on your skin to support lasting barrier health.

Not sticky, not tacky. Just a rich gel that transforms into silky milk as you add water, leaving all the benefits behind. In a consumer trial, 91% said skin felt hydrated and smoother after just two uses.

Directions

Smooth a generous layer of the blue gel onto clean, dry skin with dry hands, avoiding the eye area. Then do absolutely nothing for 10 minutes. Read something. Stare at the ceiling. You've earned it.

When time's up, wet your fingertips and massage gently. The gel transforms into a silky milk. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.

Follow with Back To Life Hydrating Serum and Love & Haight Hydrating Moisturiser to keep the hydration momentum going.

Use once a week for maintenance, or 2-3 times a week when your skin is screaming for moisture. Tightness after a long flight, a brutal winter commute, one too many acids? This is your reset.

Recycling

Say no to landfill! Let's recycle everything! - Sarah

Resurrection Girl is packaged in a tube. Cut the tube partway along the top, below the crimp, so you can rinse it out. Please do not cut it off completely. Leave the cap on and send it back to us in your Pai mailer.

All Pai boxes, cartons, sleeves and inserts can be recycled with your household paper recycling.

The majority of your Pai packaging can be recycled at home, but some components need specialist recycling. We've partnered with a specialist programme to make this as easy as possible for our UK customers.

Keep your Pai mailer box (it can be flat packed for easy storage). Fill it with the packaging elements you can't recycle at home, and clearly label the box RECYCLING. Create your free returns label and drop it off at the post office.

Please note we are unable to accept glass or non-Pai packaging. Glass bottles can be separated and placed into your household recycling.

Key Ingredients

  • Resurrection Plant

So robust it can grow in rocky ground and survive dehydration, the Zulu name for this desert plant means ‘wakes from the dead’.  A trio of clever compounds - including Trehalose, which mimics your skin’s Natural Moisturising Factor - protect, brighten and moisturise for rapid renewal. It’s sustainably harvested too; sprigs are cut only from the base of the shrub so it can continue to grow and restore.

  • Hyaluronic Acid

A sugar the body naturally produces, Hyaluronic Acid can hold between 10 and 50 times its weight in water, storing it like a reservoir for the skin – giving a long-lasting, moisturising effect. Our all-natural form comes from maize.

  • Blue Tansy Oil

Aside from its calming deep blue hue, this mighty antioxidant and anti-inflammatory has a high reputation for soothing irritation in both skin and mind. Its delicate scent releases tension, while components including camphor aid healing and repair.

  • Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF) Sugar Complex

This plant-derived carbohydrate complex is near-identical to those found in the skin. It binds to it like a magnet to deeply hydrate and strengthen the skin barrier, for comfort that lasts.

Sarah Brown, Pai Founder

"Dry and dehydrated skin can be uncomfortable. And that tight, lacklustre feeling can soon bring on the blues, and leave you feeling sensitive in more ways than one. This fast-working, skin-quenching mask gives you a chance to take ten, hydrate, and recharge. Because you can’t pour from an empty cup."

Frequently Asked Questions

What skin concerns is Resurrection Girl best suited for?

It's designed for skin that feels tight, looks dull, or has lost its bounce, whether that's from seasonal changes, central heating, travel, over-exfoliation, or just inherently dry skin. The formula addresses both dehydration (lack of water) and dryness (lack of lipids) simultaneously, thanks to its combination of water-based hydrating actives and nourishing organic oils including camellia, plum seed, sunflower, and shea butter.

How do I use Resurrection Girl?

Apply a generous layer to clean, dry skin with dry hands, avoiding the eye area, and leave for 10 minutes. Add a little water to your face, massage as the gel transforms into a silky milk, then rinse with warm water. Follow with Back To Life Hydrating Serum and Love & Haight Hydrating Moisturiser for best results.

How often should I use this mask?

For very dehydrated skin that needs an intensive rescue, use 2-3 times per week. For maintenance, once a week is plenty. The NMF Sugar Complex bonds to keratin in your skin and can't be rinsed away, so each application continues attracting moisture for up to 72 hours between uses.

Is Resurrection Girl suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes. The formula has been 96-hour patch tested on volunteers with sensitive and eczema-prone skin. Blue tansy oil provides anti-inflammatory and antihistaminic action through chamazulene, which calms reactive skin while the mask hydrates. It's also non-comedogenic, so it won't clog pores.

Can I use Resurrection Girl if my skin is oily but dehydrated?

Absolutely. Dehydration is a lack of water, not oil, and the mask's hydrating actives target water levels specifically. Because it's a wash-off format, the nourishing oils condition your skin during the 10-minute treatment without leaving a greasy residue. In the consumer trial, 73% reported improved skin tightness and 78% saw more plump-looking skin, both signs of water being restored rather than oil being added.

Is this mask safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Yes, Resurrection Girl is confirmed safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It's made with 100% natural ingredients, is free from parabens, silicones, sulfates, and alcohol, and its self-preserving gel structure means no added preservatives are needed.

Does Resurrection Girl contain any allergens I should know about?

Two worth noting: sweet almond oil (Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil), which is a tree nut derivative, and blue tansy oil (Tanacetum Annuum Flower Oil), which is an essential oil. If you have a known tree nut allergy or essential oil sensitivity, patch test on a small area first. That said, the finished formula has been 96-hour patch tested on volunteers with sensitive and eczema-prone skin, and the product is certified hypoallergenic.

Why is the mask blue?

The ocean-blue colour comes from chamazulene, a compound that forms naturally during steam distillation of blue tansy flowers. It's not a dye or added colourant. Chamazulene is also a potent anti-inflammatory, so the colour is essentially a visible marker of the soothing actives at work.

What does the gel-to-milk texture transformation actually do?

The thick, honey-like gel phase keeps concentrated actives in close contact with your skin for the full 10 minutes, giving ingredients like the NMF Sugar Complex time to bond covalently to keratin. When you add water, the texture shifts to a silky milk that lifts the product away without stripping. It's a self-preserving gel structure too, meaning bacterial growth isn't supported and no added preservatives are needed.

How does Resurrection Girl fit alongside other Pai hydration products?

It's the intensive weekly treatment in Pai's Hydrate collection. Back To Life Serum and Love & Haight Moisturiser handle daily hydration, while Resurrection Girl delivers a deeper reset you use once or twice a week. For a complete dehydration rescue routine, you can also mix 1-2 drops of the Hyaluronic Acid 0.3% Booster into your moisturiser for an extra layer.

What is the resurrection plant and why is it in this mask?

Myrothamnus flabellifolia is a small woody shrub from southern Africa that can lose up to 95% of its cellular water, appear completely dead for years, then fully rehydrate within hours of rainfall. It survives this through three specific compounds: trehalose, which stabilises proteins and cell membranes during water loss; arbutin, which scavenges free radicals and inhibits tyrosinase to even skin tone; and glycerol glucoside, which upregulates aquaporin-3 water channels to improve moisture distribution. Applied to skin, these compounds don't just add water, they help protect and repair the structures that keep moisture in.

How does the prebiotic inulin in Resurrection Girl support my skin's microbiome?

Inulin, derived from chicory root, forms a protective surface film that selectively feeds beneficial skin bacteria like Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, and Staphylococcus epidermidis while inhibiting pathogens. This microbiome support helps underpin sustained barrier health, so the hydration benefits of the mask are better maintained between uses.

What certifications does Resurrection Girl have?

It's COSMOS Organic certified by the Soil Association, with 92.35% organic content (excluding water) and 100% natural ingredients. It's also Leaping Bunny cruelty-free certified, vegan, and dermatologist tested and approved.

What makes Resurrection Girl different from other hydrating masks?

Most hydrating masks stack standard humectants on the surface. Resurrection Girl uses a multi-depth system: hyaluronic acid at the surface, hydrolyzed glycosaminoglycans deeper in the epidermis (holding up to 1,000 times their weight in water), and NMF Sugar Complex bonded to keratin for up to 72 hours of sustained hydration after rinsing. A 2024 review also confirmed that trehalose and hyaluronic acid work synergistically, with trehalose protecting HA from glycation-induced degradation, making the hydration more durable rather than just more voluminous.

What clinical evidence supports Resurrection Girl's results?

In a 55-woman consumer trial on dry, dehydrated, and sensitive skin, 91% said skin felt hydrated and smoother after just two uses, 85% reported more radiant-looking skin, and 87% experienced a soothing effect. At the ingredient level, saccharide isomerate (NMF Sugar Complex) delivered 72-hour sustained hydration and a 20% reduction in transepidermal water loss in a 28-day in vivo study, with confirmed upregulation of filaggrin and hyaluronan synthase-3 gene expression via DNA microarray analysis.

Q&A

Would it be appropriate to use this mask as a “leave on” option? No rinsing?
Hi Ruby, This mask is designed to sit on the skin and then be rinsed off. It won't absorb fully into the skin however you can leave it on for longer than the recommended time. I would suggest to follow up with [Back To Life](https://www.paiskincare.live/products/back-to-life-hydration-serum) or [Love & Haight](https://www.paiskincare.live/products/avocado-jojoba-hydrating-day-cream) for added hydration.
