Every ingredient in our range is chosen for a reason. Natural, certified organic, and most importantly, effective. Today we're taking a closer look at three of our most loved ingredients: rosehip, camellia, and chamomile. These botanical stars power some of our bestselling products, delivering visible results for all skin types.

Rosehip Oil for Face: Our Cult Favourite

Rosehip started its Pai journey in our Anthemis Chamomile & Rosehip Soothing Moisturiser. When customers saw such remarkable results, they asked if we could bottle the pure oil too. And they were absolutely right to ask.

Pai Natural Treasures Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil

Rosehip BioRegenerate is unbelievably powerful. But here's the thing: not all rosehip oils are created equal. We tested cold-pressed versions first, but they weren't delivering the results we expected. Too many valuable compounds were lost in the pressing process.

So we invested in CO2 supercritical extraction instead. Yes, it costs significantly more. But it means we capture nutrients from both the seed and fruit, perfectly intact. That's why ours has that distinctive deep orange pigment and earthy fragrance. It's quite literally packed with concentrated bioactive compounds.

What Does Rosehip Oil Do for Your Skin?

Listing what it doesn't do might actually be quicker. But in the interest of being helpful, here's what regular use delivers:

It targets dullness, blemishes, and pigmentation while improving firmness and elasticity. Because it contains high concentrations of omega 3 and 6 (the fatty acids that support skin repair), it also helps improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks, sun damage, and fine lines. And if you've ever woken up feeling a bit 'meh', you'll know it's instant glow in a bottle.

Independent testing shows our Rosehip BioRegenerate contains up to 700% more polyphenols than other rosehip facial oils on the market. Those polyphenols? They're the antioxidants that protect against free radical damage and support cell renewal.

Camellia Oil: The Gentle Powerhouse

Another nourishing oil we love, camellia has been used in Japan for centuries as a skin cleanser and conditioner. An ancient ingredient, but definitely still relevant today.

Pai Camellia & Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser and Light Work Rosehip Cleansing Oil

While many cleansers excel at removing dirt from skin, fewer manage the extra mile of actually feeding skin nutrients too. Our Middlemist Seven Gentle Cream Cleanser contains this remarkable oil, which means skin gets not only a comforting cleanse but a generous helping of omega 9 and vitamin E too. The result? Skin that's soft, calm and conditioned. Never dry or tight.

The camellia oil we use contains over 87% unsaturated fatty acids. That's not just a number. It means the oil integrates beautifully with your skin's own lipid structure rather than sitting on top of it.

Customers Love Camellia

"My only issue is that I didn't discover this Cleanser sooner. I have struggled with breakouts and eczema/sensitive skin all my life and although my skin is far from perfect now it is so much better. I even feel brave enough to have non makeup days once or twice a week. Fantastic!" – Hayley E

Chamomile Extract: Not Just for Tea

Our certified organic chamomile extract is bursting with matricine and chamazulene. And because those words mean pretty much nothing without context, we'll explain.

Pai Chamomile & Rosehip Calming Day Cream and Natural Treasures Gifts

These compounds are treasured for their ability to soothe, calm and cool. Plus their anti-inflammatory properties make chamomile the perfect soother for reactive and sensitive skin. But here's what most people don't know: not all chamomile extracts are created equal.

We use CO2-extracted German chamomile, which preserves heat-sensitive compounds like matricin that are destroyed during steam distillation. Published research shows chamomile CO2 extract is approximately 40% more anti-inflammatory than extracts from dried flowers. That's the difference between a product that claims to calm and one that actually does.

"This Chamomile & Rosehip cream has changed my life! Used together with the cleanser it has completely changed the appearance of my skin. I have been wrestling with acne rosacea for three years – spots, red patches, dry patches – and had tried pretty much everything, including dietary changes. Now I have my face back – and my confidence." – Jane B

Why Extraction Methods Matter

Throughout this post, we've mentioned CO2 extraction. It's not just marketing speak. The extraction method determines how many active compounds survive from plant to bottle.

Traditional methods like cold-pressing generate heat through friction (up to 49°C), which degrades heat-sensitive vitamins and antioxidants. Steam distillation for essential oils uses even higher temperatures, transforming or destroying many beneficial compounds entirely.

CO2 extraction happens at around 30°C in a sealed, oxygen-free environment. No heat damage. No oxidation. Just the full spectrum of bioactive compounds preserved exactly as nature intended. It's more expensive, yes. But when you see the results on your skin, you'll understand why we think it's worth every penny.

Finding Your Perfect Match

Not sure which product is right for you? Here's a quick guide:

For overnight regeneration: Rosehip BioRegenerate Face Oil. Apply 2-3 drops to clean skin before bed and wake up glowing.

For daily cleansing without stripping: Middlemist Seven Gentle Cream Cleanser. Perfect for anyone whose skin feels tight after washing.

For calming reactive skin: The Anthemis Soothing Moisturiser. Our bestseller for good reason.
