The typical self tan leans on synthetic DHA paired with drying alcohols — a combination that can trigger dehydration, breakouts, and irritation. We went the other way: COSMOS-certified organic DHA, bioengineered through fermentation, partnered with erythrulose for a cooler-toned color that genuinely reads as sun. The dual-agent approach builds multi-dimensional tone across every skin tone, rather than reducing everyone to the same flat shade.

From there, we structured everything else like a serum. Oat-derived Ceramides shore up your moisture barrier. Sodium Hyaluronate pulls hydration into the upper layers of skin. Prebiotic Inulin feeds the skin microbiome. The end result is a self tan that's clinically proven to deliver up to eight hours of hydration, while 92% of trial participants reported it didn't irritate their skin. For best results, apply in the evening.

Exfoliate first, then smooth onto cleansed, dry skin and massage in until fully absorbed. Wash your hands right away (unless tanned palms are the goal, which is a look, just not the one we're aiming for).

A caramel tint in the formula shows you exactly where you've applied, so streaks don't stand a chance. Color starts developing after about 2 hours, with the full result landing within 24–48 hours. Want to go deeper? Reapply every 2–3 days, or daily for a richer build.

How many drops? Use 2 for a light glow, 4 for a medium glow, or 6 for a deep glow.

You can also mix 2–12 drops into your moisturizer or serum for a gentler, more gradual build. The more drops, the deeper the tan. Our founder's favorite method: 4 drops mixed into a pump of Back To Life Hydrating Serum for a subtle color build over a few days.

A few things to skip after applying: exfoliating acids, retinoids, and face oils can all interfere with color development. Don't mix into your SPF either, since it may compromise sun protection. This product doesn't contain SPF, so apply that separately.
