"You are what you eat." It's an old saying, but when it comes to supporting your skin as it ages, I think it's only half the story.

Yes, what you put in your body matters. But so does what you put on it.

Let me explain. After 35, your skin starts producing about 1% less collagen each year. The proteins that kept your twenties skin bouncy begin their slow retreat. This is why we created Age Confidence. Not to fight aging (impossible), but to support your skin as it changes.

Your skincare routine and your diet work together. One delivers actives directly where they're needed, the other provides the building blocks from inside.

Here's what I eat for my skin.

Bone broth: collagen from the inside out

Bone broth delivers what aging skin craves: bioavailable collagen. When you simmer bones for hours, you extract collagen and minerals that your body can actually use.

The key is quality. Use organic, grass-fed bones for maximum nutritional benefit. Simmer for at least 12 hours. The result is a collagen-rich broth that your skin can actually use.

I drink a mug every morning. Some people add herbs or vegetables for flavour. I prefer mine straight, warm, with a pinch of sea salt.

Avocados: nature's moisture bomb

Avocados are my desert island skin food. They're packed with essential fatty acids, the building blocks of healthy cell membranes. When your cell membranes are strong, they hold moisture better.

One avocado delivers around 20 vitamins and minerals. The monounsaturated fats help your body absorb fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. Your skin needs all of them.

At Pai HQ, we mash them on sourdough with lemon, salt, and chilli flakes. Sometimes we blend them into smoothies. The creamy texture makes them surprisingly good in chocolate mousse too. Seriously.

Pomegranate: the antioxidant heavyweight

Pomegranate seeds aren't just Instagram-pretty. They're loaded with vitamin C, which your body needs to produce collagen. They also contain ellagic acid, a polyphenol that research suggests may help protect against UV damage.

The seeds deliver the most benefit. Juice is fine, but you lose the fibre. I scatter seeds over porridge, salads, or just eat them by the handful. They're sweet, tart, and incredibly satisfying to crunch.

Water: the simplest skin support

Dehydration shows on your skin instantly. Lips crack. Complexion dulls. Fine lines become more visible. Your skin is 64% water. When you're dehydrated, it shows.

Eight glasses a day is a decent target. More if you exercise or drink caffeine. I keep a litre bottle on my desk and refill it twice. No thinking required.

Herbal teas count. Coffee doesn't (it's a diuretic). If plain water bores you, add cucumber, lemon, or fresh mint.

Supporting your skin from inside and out

While nutrition provides the foundation, targeted skincare can deliver results that diet alone can't achieve. Our Age Confidence serum delivers NAD+ directly to skin cells, essentially giving them fresh batteries. It's clinically proven to reduce wrinkle depth in just four weeks.

NAD+ is the coenzyme that powers cellular repair. More NAD+ means cells can fix damage faster. The tripeptide complex plumps, firms and smooths, while also helping to even skin tone. Pair it with our Bonne Nuit night cream, which is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of fine lines.

The foods I've mentioned support your skin's natural processes. The Age Confidence Serum accelerates them. Together, they're a powerful combination.

Make it work for you

You don't need to overhaul your entire diet overnight. Start with one change. Maybe bone broth on Sunday mornings. Or avocado on toast instead of butter. Small shifts add up.

Same with skincare. You don't need ten products. You need the right ones. A serum that supports cellular repair without irritation. A moisturiser that replenishes what time takes away. Products that work with your skin, not against it.

Remember: aging is natural. Supporting your skin as it ages is smart. Feed it well, treat it kindly, and it will thank you.
